So I start my new job on Monday and up until around an hr ago I was totally confused about the actual location of the job.
My interview was at one hospital, my occ health forms went to another hospital and I couldn't remember the name of the ward/unit! Well the name was on only one piece of paper and that was the occ health form I sent back ( wasn't said in interview). I'd been searching for ages on the web for any mention of the department, then finally the nice HR lady emailed me the address and I got even more confused. The address was for a nursing home?!
It turns out after searching for this home on the trust site that yes it is a nursing home but the trust have converted part of it into the rehab unit so no longer will the unit be over 2 sites. I thought I was getting my self into another care home job which I really didn't want. Ok I feel this will be that in a way but with adults of various ages and abilities. Oh and it is just 40 mins walk away!
Oh yeah hours are 7am - 7:30pm or 7pm - 7:30am

Hello there
So yesterday I went to the gym. I wasn't going to go on the treadmill but only managed to do 3 mins on the cross-trainer due to the guy next to me was clearing his throat every few seconds and I CAN'T stand that, so I ended up walking just over 3k on the treadmill.
Not going to the gym today but will go on the bike at home.
---------------
We both went to bed at 8pm last night, I had fallen asleep on the sofa lol. Keith ended up getting up for a few hours around 11pm and I just couldn't sleep past 2am so ended up watching the news on the sofa. Out to the pub tonight for New Years so will prob have a nap at some point.

Keith's birthday
So like I said we went to a lovely pub in Bromley North Village yesterday afternoon.
We then went to Miso for Lunch :)
[gallery]
----
I went to the gym again today, I managed 2.11k on the treadmill in 22mins (I did walk for some of that) then I did 5k on the bike. For some reason each time I'm walking home from the gym I always want a salad or sushi. Today Tesco didn't have any sushi so I ended up with a salmon & potato salad which was really nice. I have however had a sandwich and some dark chocolate since I've been home and dinner is just now cooking.
-----
I did a food order online with Asda today too
-----
I will be logging food from tomorrow so I will include it in future posts.

So I have been looking around at different sites to have my blog and I have finally settled on blog.com. At the moment not every post is categorized or has tags, I don't think I'll do it for every post just the most resent ones.

Back to the gym
So my gym was closed Christmas day & Boxing day and the weather was bad yesterday so I didn't go then either.
I did go this morning however.
Distance: 1.5k
Average pace: 9.48 km
Time: 14:44
I ended up with a headache at the end so only managed 1.3k on the bike.
-------------
Think I'm going overboard on the whole running/fitness stuff. My water bottle came yesterday and today my dumbbell bars and top came. I have still to wait for my H&M order and just today I ordered a sports bra and 2 tops from boobydoo.
-------------
It's Keiths birthday today so I met him after work at a lovely pub in the north village, we had 2 ales and we are off later to day for a birthday meal
---------
I have come to the conclusion that I really am fat and NEED to do something about that. I know I am doing more at the gym each time I go, I just need to fix my food.

Christmas
So I went for my first run outside yesterday. I totally couldn't do it lol
Run 1 - Distance: 0.22 km | Pace: 8.47 | Speed: 7.08 km/h
Run 2 - Distance: 0.21 km | Pace: 8.30 | Speed: 7.23 km/h
Walk 1 - Distance: 0.37 km | Pace: 14.30 | Speed: 4.2 km/h
I then did 1k on the bike.
I went to meet Keith at work so decided to go for a long walk, I love walking on Christmas day, and did the following:
Walk 2 - Distance: 4.41 km | Pace: 13.80 | Speed: 4.36 km/h
So I think I deserved the 3 drinks I had in the pub on the way home ;) then the drinks at home. We opened our presents (not many), had cheese on toast, then I crashed on the sofa, alcohol makes me sleepy.
We had a big evening dinner - honey gammon joint, mash potato, roast potatoes, sprouts, cabbage, stuffing, yorkshire puddings, gravy. We didn't manage to eat it all so we have left overs for today :)
There were actually 2 corner shops open too.
I did some online shopping in the morning:

Calories & other stuff
So I haven't stuck to my aim of adding my daily calorie burn and calories eaten. I'm not logging this week but below is my total for last week.
16/12/2013 - 22/12/2013
calories eaten: 12283 | calories burned: 14195 | deficit: -1912
So not quite -3500 this week.
-----------------------
I didn't go to the gym today, even if I planned too, I wouldn't have gotten down the drive to the building. I did however go on my exercise bike at home for 19 mins and did 10k
-----------------------
So I ordered a water bottle online yesterday and it is meant to be delivered today before 5pm so that is within the next hr. It is currently still being processed in Portsmouth which is over an hrs way from here. Doesn't look like I'll be getting it before Christmas then.

Christmas eve eve
So I've just returned from the pub where I had a few ciders and now dinner is cooking.
----------
Christmas eve is tomorrow, up until a few years a go I've never heard of christmas eve eve and now I just think it is stupid, it has no meaning at all.
There wasn't many people around the shops this morning when I was on my way home from the gym. It did pick up during the day though.
The weather is horrible here at the moment, not too much rain but it is extremely windy. I keep thinking my windows are going to blow out.
----------
I was not feeling the gym this morning. I went on the treadmill for 10 mins but that is all I could do. I ended up on the bike for 20 mins. It was quite busy too.

the move...
So the move to Worthing is getting closer! My mum has agreed that the money she has for our new car can be used for the move instead.
Now how do you apply for jobs when you haven't actually started your current one? They aren't going to be happen when they are being asked for references and any potential employer will think it strange that I am looking to move on so soon, but hey it's not at a commutable distance so I'll just make something up about needing to more.
--------------------------------
This morning I planned to check out a potential running route, I'd actually walked this route before in various stages. I got up at 7:15am once Keith had left for work, got reading then realised it was raining hard so I went to my usual place, the sofa. I didn't have to wait long and I was out the door.
Now it never dawned on me that I would be waling along a muddy trail and through the woods so of course I was surrounded by wait sticky mud everywhere, I slipped a few times and had to take a small detour due to a tree which has blown over. Overall it was fun and I think in the summer/warmer months it would be a nice route to run.
I haven't quite got the nerve up yet to start running outside. I could see myself doing it in the early hours though. I'd much prefer a park but we don't really have them, well not ones where I don't need to run in loads of circles to get a good distance in.
I don't know running on the streets in England is so much better than in the USA. I can't wait to move to Worthing as I'll have loads of places to run including along the sea front and in the south downs.
--------------------------------
I'm looking at joining a Wednesday evening running group, so check back for updates on this
I'm still unsure about my degree, I'm really getting into all this fitness stuff so like the idea of sports & exercise but then my career at present is in care so a health and social care based degree would be too.
------------------------------
I'm in awe of runners who are like an easy run is 5 miles, I can barely make

Recap
So yesterday I went to the gym again around 8am, I think that is now my fav time to be there, it really isn't that busy. I went right to the treadmill and ran for 3K, only a short amount of that was walking, I was running at 7.5kph and I think the faster I go the better I am. I used to run at 5 - 5.5kph but couldn't run for long. Yesterday I ran till I couldn't breath anymore. I'm really liking it and feel I'm getting into this running stuff.
Also my gym is surrounded with fields full of horses.

With all the rain we must have had over night one of the field had turned into a lake.

I went shopping this morning for xmas food and ended up spending £74. I had to haul 4 big backs onto the bus and not we actually have no room left in the fridge or freezer for anymore food.

It's quite windy round here at the moment, on the way to Tesco I thought I'd get blown over but it's not so strong to blow over trees here thank god.
Our flat doesn't have double glazing in the front due to it being a conservation building but we do have in front of the windows sliding shutter thingies which do help, some of the windows however don't shut completely as we keep them slightly open to avoid mold.

Mid week
So I made it to the gym this morning. Like an idiot I forgot my fitbit so had to guestimate my activities to add to it. I walk to the gym & back each time I go so that's 2.8 miles in total which is good.
I actually did my core exercises (except the crunches) and my strength training (except the assisted pull up) then did 10-15mins running & walking on the treadmill. I had a slight pain in my right shin so didn't push it too much.
Tomorrow I'm aiming to go to a 7:30am pilates class for the first time. I don't really know what to expect.
------------------
While I was out on the walk yesterday, there were school groups everywhere going to or from the panto. Now I hate kids at the best of times but show me a group of loud kids and I'd like to kill someone. Yesterday as we were rounding the corner from the theatre we were surrounded by a group and I just shouted "you're fucking too loud" they were so loud I don't think any of them heard me even the teachers as I got no reaction from them. Keith did start laughing though :)
You know the old saying "children should be seen and not heard"? well I say "children shouldn't be seen or heard". Sorry I can cope with my sisters kids even when they are nightmares and my friends kids, but OMG I hate kids out in public especially those with parents who can't or won't try to control them. I'd be embarrassed if my kid was screaming in a shop.
-----------------
Now what I do love are PUGS! Next year we are going to be getting one as soon as we move and we can't wait.

----------------
I ate well yesterday and kept it up today. I have a thing for sushi. You don't get much for your money but I just love it.

merry xmas ya'll
Ok so 1. its not xmas just yet and 2. I'm not American so shouldn't really be saying ya'll.
I'm not religious at all (okay maybe bordering on Pagan). I did grow up going to an evangelical church till around the time I started secondary school and went to beach missions in the summer but it never was my thing, my mum grew up in a baptist church where my gran was the women fellowship treasurer till she was 85. It was never pushed on me and my dad never went to church.
Anyways back to xmas. I don't really see it as any other day, well me & Keith see it as an excuse to drink without felling guilty. We have a little tree up to keep out presents under (mainly from my parents) but that is all.
Xmaz isn't a religious holiday anymore and besides it was a stolen pagan holiday anyways.
So I haven't managed to get to the gym today. I hate going in the evenings and I really don't do the afternoons either. We didn't go for a carvery though so that was a good thing, we did go for the walk around the very hilly park and through the shops to do some food shopping. Still need food for xmas week.
Look who we say today:
So I've been bad and done some online clothes shopping. I have like no money until payday (I have no clue when that is) but I have some credit for a store so used some of it to buy the following:
Work, work, work. We I have a new job starting on 6th Jan 2014. It should be interesting, it will be hard work but I'll learn nice new things before I eventually move to Worthing at some point next year. My current/past job I just hated, I was meant to be starting a different new job but the NHS trust was just completely crap with everything but thankfully I got a different one instead. I had been trying since I got back from my holiday in October to find out how much annual leave and bank holidays I'd have left up to the end of November (our holidays go April to March), I heard nothing from my ward manager then one Sunday she was working (2 weeks later) and I joked she hadn't worked it out yet and she said she was going to do it that day, that day finished and nothing. A while later I again joked about it as she had just done it for someone else there on the spot!. She knew I was looking to use it all up before I left.
I eventually, come mid November, told her a date I was looking at leaving on and she said she needed it in writing so I emailed it her and included again the fact that I would be using up my annual leave/bank holidays between the then date & my leaving date. I got no reply (turns out no one does). I started working it out for my self but couldn't do anything till the next & my last rota was out. It so happens that she was on annual leave at this point. Anyways I looked at the rota, worked out which days I'd need to work and asked a senior nurse about time off, but I had to inform her instead so I did as well as the matron. I heard nothing, I actually needed that very week off (the end of it) as I had a funeral to go to. I took it off anyways!
I then decided that I wasn't going to be returning so I emailed her another leaving date but I heard nothing. So at this point I don't know which leaving date she accepted and if I'm actually going to get paid in December!
I do happen to also work as an agency HCA but it is oh so easy to just cancel shifts :( I am currently awaiting a termination letter from my I suppose old job, I expected it to arrive last week as she sent me a text asking for my address but nothing yet, maybe she is waiting for HR.

I will be from now on including my calories eaten and my calories burned from the previous day on each post manly to keep myself accountable.

Life
So today was my follow up health MOT at my gym, I haven't done well. My weight since my first MOT has been up & down and today it was up! Overall my health mentor was pleased with my progress, I was not. Now each Monday I will be getting an email from him to give me encouragement, I think this will help, I feel that I'm too lazy when I try to go alone.
After my MOT I did a little exercise - 10 mins on the treadmill running at 4mph, 10 mins on the cross-trainer, squats, hip thrusts.
I need to really push myself, I need motivation (ok I have motivation but I'm just lazy), I need to do more group classes, I need to get up at the same time on my days off (7am) and get my but into gear.
I will also be looking at pinterest workout routines to do at home.

So I am reading through this lovely ladies blog and I am only at Feb 2011!! I can't stop reading blogs from the beginning, I am so getting behind with uni coz of this lol
Tomorrow I am aiming to do a group class at the gym, then maybe some strength training. Though Keith is off tomorrow and is thinking of us going out for breakfast. Should I do a total abs or step class?
Oh I think I'm getting hooked on running. I don't know why I just am, I'm still not with the whole running on the streets/park with loads of people around though.

My races
So this post is to document all the races I have done or will be doing. It will be linked on the right hand side.

This is a 5k run every Saturday in local parks around the country as well as I think the USA. You can run, jog, walk, bring the dog. I am aiming to do 10 of this in 2014.

This a 5k or 10k mud run. There are 4 locations around the UK and my local one is on 29th March 2014. I am aiming to do the 5k this year.

Now this is a 5k run that also happens in the USA. It looks fun :) The date is 14th September 2014 for the race in Brighton
WORTHING 10K
This date is 19th October 2014. At this point we should have moved into the area so it will be a local run :)

sunday rambling
Americans do everything big style - announcement of a baby, announcement of the babies sex, decorations - fall + Easter + Halloween + Xmas. The UK or at least from what I know of don't do half of it. I find it a bit OTT to be honest.
Yesterday I went to watch the local parkrun to check it out before I take part in it. I then went to take photos at the local park (not the local one where the parkrun is).
So I am still confused over uni. Do I stay with sports psychology or go back to health care? I have 3 modules to complete after my current one to finish my degree. I'm thinking that if I do health care then I can do 1 level 3 module next year and then 1 level 3 along with 1 level 2 instead of doing 2 level 3s together.
Fitness to me should be a big thing, I should have lost 30+lbs this year but in fact I've barely lost 15lbs :( I have just been given a new workout routine which I hope will jump start my weight drop. I haven't been to the gym since I was given the routine mainly because I did too much and I just couldn't move. Today I am much better and am aiming to go for a work later on. I really want to get on with the strength training i.e. SL 5x5 but I don't feel ready to go into the barbell section of my health gym just yet. I have a barbell at home with a few weight plates but I just don't have the room for a bench, squat rack or what I really want - a power rack. Below is the one that I want but this will have to weight till I move an get that 2nd bedroom or I'll just have to go to a bodybuilding gym instead if I still don't have the room,
Races

At this point we should have moved into the area so it will be a local run :)

my eating habbits
So I don't really eat too much 'unhealthy' foods, I rarely buy chocolates, cakes or sweets but my partner loves all those things. My main problem is portion sizes. We'd cook 500g mince meat and have it between the 2 of us, I totally don't do the whole freezing some thing & we don't have space.
This year I have been doing my cooking and we have been eating loads more veg, our fav is stir fry veg.
I tend to go over my calories with alcohol :( or subway, I'd always get a footlong thinking a 6" is just pointless but I actually got one the other day and I was totally fine with it :)
The only fizzy pop I really have is root beer I am so not giving that up!

Sooo sore
So on Wednesday I did my very first spin class, I am still feeling the effects 2 days later. It didn't hurt that I had a session with my instructor yesterday to give me a new routine to do.
I can hardly lift my legs, I actually have to pull my left leg up using my clothes. I've tried using ice packs but that hasn't helped. I find it hard to squat therefore sit and I can't kneel at all. I hope I get over this soon :(

What about me?
I am currently 32 a northerner (that's what the south call us) living in London/Kent.
I am extremely lazy, messy, disorganised, a loner, unfit, over weight.... Get me on the sofa and I won't get off all day!
I am currently a uni student but couldn't tell you what my subject is as I'm always changing modules.
I also work full time as a nursing assistant, I'm thinking of going into nursing soon, if not then law enforcement.
I am a no kids no marriage kind of girl thankfully my partner is the same.
Oh yeah, I'm aiming to join the TA as either a HCA or as military police, I just need to get my fitness on first. I am also looking at doing the http://www.majorseries.com I would like to do 10 5k partruns this year as well as any mud runs/colour runs I can find, being in the UK that prob won't be many.
I will be using this post to log my weight.

a blog people should read!
So for the last day or so I have been reading Ash's blog @ ashsrightdirection.com It is amazing to see the transformation she has gone through, the fact she tends to do much more than I do AND had a kid to add to the mix, oh and seems to go up & down the same few lbs for a while just like me.
I have been inspired to really sort out my fitness by reading her blog!

The journey
So I have really tried to be healthier since Feb 2013. On 1st Feb I weighed 203lbs, today on 12th Dec I weigh 187, that is a decrease of 16lbs, that is a 3.55lb a week lose. I did get down to181lbs in November but I put it back on again :(
I aim to lose 52lbs by 1st Jan 2015 so that will be 135lbs minus anything I lose between now 1st Jan 2014.
I need to be better with my diet. I need to stick to my allocated daily calorie limit and not go over it or think as I'm doing the TDEE - 500 calories method I don't need to.
I also need to increase my exercise. I have a new routine as of today which I want to stick to, I will also be adding other cardio into it as well as going to classes.

me & my weight...
So I've never been a skinny kid and I don't want to be a skinny adult, but since around 2011 I started putting on weight more. I became lazy, started eating bigger portions, prob due to living with a man & doing the cook to man sizers. I got up as far as 203 lbs and a size 18 (uk) I am now down to 185 lbs and a size 14-16 (uk). I lost this weight since Feb this year and my aim is to get to 115/133 lbs by next new years.
I tried a few gyms on the notion of doing group classes (I have yet to do one). The first I joined was a leisure centre in Feb 2011 and I didn't go once. I then joined a local cheap gym Feb 2012 and went for a short time but just didn't like it there, I never did a group class (I don't think they ever really did any) but I learnt I actually liked going to the gym whereas before I hated the idea. I joined another local cheap gym but again the same. I finally in August 2012 joined a chain gym which is more expensive but so much better. I got a health MOT, a work out plan and someone I could talk to about exercises/equipment whenever I needed to. The workout plan was for the 1st 12 weeks which I have now passed but I feel confident in finding my own way around the gym though I will talk to them about starting free weights.
I have recently started using the treadmill. Now before I would only do a fast walk on it as I couldn't run for more than a few mins, but I am running for 1.5 miles each time now. My first time I managed it in around 20 mins but just today I managed it in under 16:30 mins! I need to get it under 14 mins as I plan to join the TA once I meet their fitness/weight requirements.
I am not eating as healthy as I should, I still like my subways, alcohol etc but I am getting better and we try to use fresh veg as much as possible. I am cooking things more myself which is good, I will prob never get into baking or making things like pastry as I'm just too lazy lol

me me me
I am currently 32 a northerner (that’s what the south call us) living in London/Kent.
I am extremely lazy, messy, disorganised, a loner, unfit, over weight…. Get me on the sofa and I won’t get off all day!
I am currently a uni student but couldn’t tell you what my subject is as I’m always changing modules.
I also work full time as a nursing assistant, I’m thinking of going into nursing soon, if not then law enforcement.
I am a no kids no marriage kind of girl thankfully my partner is the same.
I am extremely opinionated
I love beer/ale
I get really inspired by others blogs, weight loss etc but I just can’t get pass the whole lazyness, which is so stupid
I am mainly a lifestyle blogger, I will blog about anything. You will notice I don’t talk much about friends or family. My family live miles away & while in the US a 3hr journey is seen as nothing, in the UK it’s a weekend away. My friends, well I don’t have that many, I don’t see much, I talk to them mostly online or on the phone. I have come to realize last year that I think my weight to mainly to do with this. I haven’t been to theatre/WE performer gigs for years now (I used to go a lot), so no-one has been me this weight and I think I just don’t want them too.
